Katherine Castillo-Valentin graduated from Northwestern University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Sciences & Disorders and Minors in Psychology & Latinx Studies. Katherine has several years of experience working with middle school and high school students in after-school educational settings. After graduating from NU, she worked at a Chicago non-profit organization where she coordinated after school programming for 100+ middle school students across the city. Most recently, she was a Lab Manager for a Developmental Psychology Lab at Northwestern University. Katherine enjoys working with young people and is very excited to be part of a multi-site research team that is interested in learning how mindfulness can have a positive impact on the well-being of adolescents, especially youth who are navigating education in a mostly virtual environment. She hopes that by being part of the Youth Mindful Awareness Program (YMAP) she will be able to help the YMAP research team create an evidence-based approach to preventing stress & anxiety that can be accessible to teachers, students, and families.
